Chosen rules

In a round of a handicap competition, the competitor must ensure that his handicap is recorded on his score card before it is returned to the commitee. If no handicap is recorded on his sore card before it is returned, or if the recorded handicap is higher than that to which he is entitled and this affects the number of strokes recieved, he is disqualified from the handicap competition; otherwise; the score stands.

Time of starting:
The player must start at the time established by the committee.
Penalty for breach of this rule: disqualification
(Rule 6-3 a)
Note: the Committee may provide in the conditions of a competition that, if the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within 5 minutes after his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes.

 

Playing ball as it lies:
A player must not improve the position or lie of his ball, the area of his intended stance or swing, by moving, bending, breaking, pressing down anything growing or fixed or by eliminating irregularities of the surface.

Relief for ball in Water Hazard:
If a ball is lost in a water hazard, the player may under penalty of one stroke:

  • Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played; or

  • Drop a ball behind the water hazard, keeping the point at which the original ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind the water hazard the ball may be dropped; or

  • As additional options available only of the ball last crossed the margin of a lateral water hazard, drop a ball outside the water hazard within two club-lengths of and not nearer to the hole than ( i ) the point where the original ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard (not where it went into the water!)or ( ii ) a point on the opposite margin of the water hazard equidistant from the hole.

Ball lost or Out of Bounds:
The player must play a ball, under penalty of one stroke, as near as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played (not drop next ball in the area where original ball was lost).

Ball unplayable:
The player may deem his ball unplayable at any place on the course except when the ball is in a water hazard.
If a player deems his ball to be unplayable, he must under penalty of ONE STROKE:

  • Play a ball as near as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played

  • Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped; or

  • Drop a ball within TWO club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole.
