Golf etiquette
Safety:
- Ensure that no one is standing in a position to be hit by your club, the ball or any other object when you make a practice swing or stroke.
- Do not play until the players in front are out of range.
- Shout "FORE " if there is the slightest chance that your ball will hit anyone.
Consideration for other players:
- Do not disturb the play of others by moving, talking or making unnecessary noise.
- Avoid taking electronic devices onto the course if possible. If the device is essential, ensure that it does not distract other players.
- Avoid standing on another player's line of putt or casting shadow over another player's line.
- Don't stand close to or directly behind the ball, or the hole, when a player is about to play.
- If you are marking a score card (keeping scores) record the player's score after leaving the green on the next tee. Check it with the player if necessary.
Pace of play:
- Be ready to play as soon as it is your turn, for example, have your glove on and the right club in your hand.
- It is the groups responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If a group loses a clear hole, it is expected to invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in either group.
- At the putting green, leave bags or carts in a position that will allow quick and easy movement off the green to the next tee. When the hole is finished, leave the putting green immediately.
- If there is any chance of your ball being lost outside a water hazard, play a provisional ball.
- If you have to search for the ball signal to the group behind you to play through. Do not search for 5 minutes before doing so.
Priority on the course
- If committee does not make other decision priority on the course have groups that play at quickest pace. Groups playing full round have priority over groups playing part of the round.
Care of the course:
- Before leaving the bunker, carefully fill up and smoothe over any holes or footprints made by you or other players even if rakes are not around.
- Replace divots.
- Repair pitch-mark on the green. Not only your own.
- It is not allowed to take divots with practice swings
- Avoid causing damage to the putting green; place bags off the putting green, be carefull with the flag stick; avoid standing close to the hole, and pick up your feet while walking across the green.
- Clubs should not be leaned on, particulary when removing a ball from the hole.
- Don't use the head of the club for removing a ball from the hole.
- Observe and obey any club regulation for movement of trolleys and carts.
